Restructuring of the old slaughterhouses in Lugano
In collaboration with Sergio Calori architect, Laura Gianellini and Karim Notari architects.
The project proposes to reveal the historical value of the Ex-Slaughterhouse by highlighting the existing facades and their compositions. It also strengthens the quality of the paths and common areas by offering numerous accesses. These paths and these common spaces are an extension of the significant green spaces of the city. In the dedicated space, a new building with a simple and modern language is added which becomes part of the continuity of the Ex-Macello and the composition of the sector. The external installations of the project endeavor to create continuity with those already present in order to form a coherent whole. The spaces around the play areas are transformed in order to reinforce the character of the park from which the lot benefits. Via Giuseppe Parini is also transformed into the development logic of the Green Ray of the city. In order not to create additional roads, the project uses the existing one for the underground parking of the building in Via as the only vehicle access Seraphim Crossbow. The requested parking spaces and the bike shelter have been gathered in this part of the Ex-Macello, where the service access to the sector is also located. With this device all existing trees are preserved. The Ex-Macello and these new public spaces strengthen the enhancement of the site and constitute the new "showcase" of the city of Lugano, like a Cassarate "postcard".
