Extension of the Museum Maurice Jardot
The Museum of Modern Art of Belfort - Maurice Jardot Donation, is today made up of the Villa and its garden. The ensemble has the particularity of constituting a strong, unique identity that adjoins the Émile Lechten square. The extension dedicated to the temporary and permanent exhibitions must be installed in a way that respects the balance and forces present in the context, with the ambition of creating a mediation path that is commensurate with the Museum and the importance of the collections presented. The proposed design aims to generate a unitary and compact principle that takes up that of the Museum's Villa. The issue here is neither formal nor plastic: it is that of a poetic link between the existing Villa and its extension, between traditional and contemporary architecture. By using similar formal codes, these two units express themselves in a relationship of filiation.
